2015 Recap & Everything I Learned

kolkata, christmas, park street, allen park, kolkata christmas festival 2015

I suppose the last few months flew by a bit too fast for me. Or maybe it's because I was finally beginning to enjoy 2015. I was meeting people, ticking off things from my bucket list, doing things I love, and I before I knew, BOOM! Hello, December 31.

So ofcourse, I'm going to do the mandatory recap of 2015 because, HEYYOH it's a fresh new shiny year tomorrow and we'll be starting fresh again and, isn't this what we're supposed to do anyway? Think back to good 'ol 2015 and all our accomplishments and mistakes and failures? Ofcourse, we do.

Book Review: Windmills of the Gods

I've decided to take a little break from my travel posts. I thought, "I shan't make this boring. I must write about things and not just my awesome vacation because it WILL get boring".

And so today, the very wonderful Noor from Noor's Place is taking over my blog (spoiler alert: I really really reaally adore this guurl). She's sharing her thoughts on one of her favourite books, and I am so excited! YAY. *throws confetti*

A Lip-Smacking Kashmiri Dinner

We almost never stepped out to explore Srinagar in the evening because of the cold. Did I tell you how cold it gets in the evening? Very. Then again, we aren't quite accustomed to such freezing weather either (we live in a very hot city, thankyouverymuch).

So after returning from Gulmarg, we headed straight for the local markets in Srinagar. We shopped and bargained and shopped some more.

And then we walked along Dal Lake which was the most beautiful thing ever.

From Gulmarg To Apple Gardens, Jammu & Kashmir

On the day of our Gulmarg trip, we were greeted by a bright and sunny Srinagar. SURPRISE!

I gotta say, the sun was such a welcome after all the rain and snow.

I'm growing plenty tired of saying it over and over again, but the road to Gulmarg was so beautiful. I mean, sure, we got stuck in jam for 2 hours (not kidding) BUT that in no way lessens my love for Kashmir.

Hello Snowy Sonmarg, Jammu & Kashmir

Our second day in Jammu & Kashmir began with a trip to Sonmarg (about 2 hours car ride from Srinagar). We left bright and early in the morning while it was still drizzling.

We stopped briefly at a roadside Punjabi dhaba to have our breakfast. The dhaba was, quite conveniently, located on the banks of river Jammu. There's something about having hot tea and pakoras on a rainy day, all the while taking in the beauty of the river that flowed by.

Arriving at Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir

I've been wanting to visit Kashmir almost my whole life and the past 2 weeks were everything I could have asked for and more.

Kashmir was perfect.

But our journey was epic-er.

TV Shows I'm Watching: Fall 2015

This is my favourite time of the whole year because-

a. October is my birthday month.
b. Durga Puja aka month-long Puja vacation. No school/college.
c. Loads of new and old TV shows.
d. New book releases.

One Year Bloggiversary :: Ask Me Anything

My little baby blog turned one today and I'm so happy YAY YAY YAY.

I would have posted much sooner today but ehh you know, college + extra classes takes forever.

But but but the most important thing is that One Tiny Wish completed one year today. I've been very lousy with my blog this year but I'm still so so happy that my blog and YOUUU - my awesome readers who stuck around with me - have come so far together! #ProudMammaMoment

I am beyond happy right now. Like absolutely totally jumping-on-the-moon kind of happy! I'm rambling. I should stop rambling.

BergerXP Indiblogger Meet, Kolkata 2015

I've had this post drafted and ready for uhhh almost 2 weeks now. You must believe me when I say, I haven't had time to actually hit "publish". *sistah swear*

So I suppose I should jump right into the post.

I attended a Blogger Meet on September 12 (told you, it's been 2 weeks) and I finally told my parents about my blog. Say whaaat?

September 2015: Goals and More

Remember how I said in my first post since after my blogging break that I'll try to post atleast twice in August. Yeah, obviously that did NOT happen.

Apparently, coming back from a 5 months blogging break is much much muuuch harder than I thought. *awkward laugh*

Not to worry though. I'm getting there, slowly.

So right now my motto is, "Shut up and just get it done!"

Ergo, I've made myself a list of goals that I MUST complete this month. Maybe I'll make this a monthly thing to actually get things done in time! Ha.

The "My Hogwarts Story" Tag

Sometime around February this year, I did The Harry Potter Tag (courtesy of the super-awesome Danielle). So when she came up with her own tag aka The "My Hogwarts Story" Tag, ofcourse I decided to do it right away. But you know, me and procrastination is such a great combo that I never got around to do it.

But now I shall. Because... a chance to write my own Hogwarts story? Umm hells yeah. Let's do this! *woot woot*

Blogging Break: What I've Been Up To Lately

I'm feeling so relieved after writing yesterday's post on my super-long 5 months blogging break. Thank you so much for the extra love I received on my post and social media. It totally made my day guuuys! *bear hugs everyone*

Since obviously a lot of time has passed in between, I thought of bringing you up-to-date about all the stuffs I did since March.

[+] I completed my Second Year of college. I'm officially a Third Year student now. This is my final year of college. I'm graduating next Spring and I have no idea what to do next. Also, I read Julius Caesar, The Mayor of Casterbridge and Arms & The Man for English this year. AATM was definitely my favourite!

5 Months Blogging Break + New Blog Design

Hello, August. How have you been?

Wow... 5 months. *awkward pause* I suppose this is the part where I should explain about my whereabouts.

So yes, I've been MIA since March (blogging twice in March/April/May doesn't count). It was a rather long blogging break but to be honest, I was actually burnt out from blogging - there, I said. Hence, the hiatus. You know, life happened! No really, I was juggling with my college and exams and blog and life, and suddenly a point came when it had become too difficult to manage all of them at once.

Fandom Friday: I

Hello. Wow it's May already. I feel like time is going by a bit too fast. Oh no wait, that's my Second Year final exams knocking at my door. Don't mind me, I'll be off studying again.

But today is Friday which means - *tada* our first Fandom Friday post. Again, this is very ironic because I introduced this series err in March and this is my first Fandom Friday post (well technically, second).

So let's get on with it...

The Earthquake - 25.04.2015

Hello. I hope everyone is safe and well (wherever you are). I just wanted to make a quick update today (even though it's been a month since I last posted).

We are still reeling from the earthquake that happened yesterday in Nepal. But we felt the tremors for more than a minute in Kolkata too. I cannot even begin to imagine what it must have been like for them, how terrifying it must have been.

New Series: Fandom Friday

I'll keep this post short because umm there's not much to say. If you've been reading my blog long enough you must know about my obsession with all things fictional. If not, well.. now you know. I take this whole fandom thing very very seriously.

Now I hope I'm not the only one here. I know there's a fangirl (or fanboy) among all of you. Even a teeny-tiny bit.

What People Don't Tell You About TV Shows

I just finished watching How To Get Away Murder season 1 finale on Tuesday and it was THE MOST CRAZIEST AND EPIC season finale I've seen till now. If you watch HTGAWM you must know what I'm talking about. If you don't, wait.. you don't? What ARE you doing? Go watch it. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Anyway, I'm really really mad because the next season doesn't come out until September 2015 (whaaat?!). Ergo, I'm going to pour out my feels in today's post.

I'm going to tell you what nobody - I repeat - NOBODY ever ever tells you about TV shows. I mean, they aren't just some sort of entertainment. Nope, no, never. You know that. I know that. The whole fandom knows that.

So go get a coffee because I'm gonna warn you about a few good things before you jump into a fandom. Believe me, peeps, this chica has been there, done that.

The Harry Potter Tag

That my friend, is my old battered hand-me-down copy of Goblet of Fire. It is also the only Harry Potter book I own. It used to be my Mamu's (maternal uncle) until he gave it to when I was maybe 13 years old. The book has been with me ever since. I probably started reading Harry Potter when I was around 10. Believe me when I tell you, I was convinced that I would receive a letter from Hogwarts! I usually borrowed the books from my friends or the school library. But sadly, I never got a chance read the last book. I read it long after Deathly Hallows (film) released.

10 Films I'm Excited To Watch In 2015

I've been very busy these past 2 weeks with some serious family emergencies. Thankfully, they're all solved now. But on a completely gloomy note, I've lost my Year I Admit Card, without which the college won't issue me my marksheet. So now I'm stuck running back and forth between my college and the University headquarters to request for a duplicate Admit Card. I know, I know, so very careless of me!

Anyway, hullo there. Did you miss me (be a dear and say yes, please)? So today I want to share with you some films I am cray-cray excited to watch this year. And I hope you are too. *does the happy dance*

2015: New Year Goals

Before I start today's post, I would like to take a minute to pay my respect to my paternal grandfather who passed away on December 30, 2014. My parents and I returned to Kolkata as soon as we got the news. It feels so weird to not have him around anymore. Honestly, I don't know when we might get used to the emptiness but I'm sure he'll be watching over us.

But I did make myself a list of goals for 2015. The truth is, I've given up on resolutions because I usually end up never accomplishing them. Never.
